When reading the excellent and inspiring account of the Plowden Report, I felt the characteristics identified for progressive teaching reminded me of something current. Individualised, activity-based learning, discovery methods, small group work, team teaching, negotiated curriculum. Perhaps Plowden is the reason the educational establishment dislikes general national vocational qualifications so much!
