* The partnership between schools and parents in countering bullying is to be welcomed (TES, September 10), but needs to be extended to include the pupils who are directly concerned and whose contribution is vital.

The consultation of pupils, and their involvement in an ongoing review of the school’s anti-bullying policy and its implementation, has been found to be the most effective approach to the problem, as confirmed by the Office for Standards in Education report published last year.
