Points of view

* Margaret Morrissey, spokeswoman for the National Confederation of PTAs, does a disservice to the parents she should support when she claims that without a hot meal at primary school children go to secondary school unable to hold a knife and fork (TES, April 8).

Children are in school for just 39 weeks each year. Can table manners not be instilled at home during the remaining 13 weeks or is this just another area the schools must take responsibility for teaching?
