The Metropolitan Police have yet to decide whether to conduct a formal investigation into claims that Chris Woodhead, the chief inspector of schools, committed perjury in denying he had an affair with a sixth-former while she was attending the school where he was a teacher. Papers sent to the police by David Hart, general secretary of the National Association of Head Teachers, are being examined by a senior officer. Police confirmed a formal decision to investigate had not been taken.
