The Outward Bound Trust would like to clarify that the recent article on “The outward bound confidence lift for secondary-bound pupils” (TESS, 11 February) has no connection to the trust.

Although the term “outward bound” has become synonymous with outdoor learning, Outward Bound is in fact a registered trademark of the trust. We work incredibly hard to protect the trademark, and are the only organisation that delivers the true Outward Bound experience.

In Scotland, the trust works with around 7,500 young people annually from a broad range of backgrounds and with many school partners to help young people discover their potential through adventures and journeys in the wild.
