Poor markers need more than a ticking off

Our primary school will be sending back at least 10 writing papers for re-marking. The whole system is a fiasco and an insult to education professionals.

The marking system really has to be changed to rely upon the competence of teachers. How many people have been put off joining the profession because of this? How many teachers (and headteachers) have given up in despair?

We should have taken a more resolute stand last year, with a complete boycott. Perhaps now the Government will listen, but what damage has been done?
