Poor readers, but best TV watchers

THE UK ranks in the bottom half of a 20-nation table of adult literacy levels - but tops the list when it comes to watching television.

The report by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development looked int countries’ literacy levels. It places the UK alongside Ireland, the United States, Switzerland, Canada, Australia, as among those facing “serious literacy problems for large proportions of the adult populations”.
