Pope wristbands to inspire pupils

Exam candidates have been asked to wear wristbands calling on the late Pope John Paul II to help them with their studies.

The bands, which feature his words “Be Not Afraid”, were the idea of 16-year-old Daniel Philbin Bowman, who was inspired by media coverage of his illness and death. The Archbishop of Dublin, Diarmuid Martin said the bands would give young people courage and hope.
