A shake-up of the standards required of tutors and lecturers teaching post-16 learners in Wales is under consultation. A proposed new set of standards, debated at a conference for teacher-trainer providers and organised by fforwm, a charitable organisation representing Wales’s 25 FE colleges and institutions last week, will mean that all new tutors may have to gain a qualification appropriate to their role and undertake 30 hours’
continuous professional development every year. The new regulations will be in place in England from this September.
