The University of Warwick is not “backing away” from initial teacher training, as suggested by Phil Revell in the First Appointments supplement.

The university is strongly committed to teacher training and has a broad range of PGCE subjects which we continue to develop. The Office for Standards in Education has inspected all of our courses and they ae rated among the highest in the country.

Our recruitment to secondary courses has remained stable and we have been able to recruit outstanding and committed trainees who have moved on to teach successfully.

Jane Meredith PGCE information officer Prof Chris Husbands Director, PGCE University of Warwick Institute of Education Coventry
