I returned to teaching a year ago and have been unable to pass through the threshold due to insufficient evidence of pupils’ progress.

I have been advised that I need at least two or three years’ recent experience and that evidence from more than five years ago will not suffice. I taught for 12 years before a career break. I paidfor a returners’ course myself (pound;150 plus a week’s unpaid supply teaching) and have not had any golden hellos or welcome packages in spite of teaching a shortage subject (physics) in Greater London. One year on, I am ready to consider a permanent break from teaching.
