I understand Estelle Morris’s desire to stamp her authority on education (TES, June 15) but after years of continuous revolution, the one thing teachers do not need is yet more gratuitous change. By all means improve the 14 to 19 provision, but why sacrifice the proven standard enhancers of SATs and GCSE on the altar of something as nebulous as “a broad and balanced curriculum”? The words baby and bathwater come to mind.
