AS the parent of teenage children, I share your readers’ concerns about the frequency of testing. But as the teacher of A-level English to adults, I am delighted by the development of ASA2. My learners arrive in September to sit the same exam as sixth-formers the following June. They have coped, not only with A-level but with their jobs, children and elderly parents. So I welcome the new A-level format on their behalf. Adult learners can now enjoy equality of opportunity in terms of study time with sixth-formers for the first time.
