I note the theme of the coming White Paper will be that private-sector expertise can be brought in to deal with “failing” schools (“Drastic increase in private managers proposed”, TES, July 13). In Liverpool this was to be done through the sponsorship of a city academy by Marconi.

In view of Marconi’s recent problems, perhaps we can give something back? Could heads of thriving schools donate their management expertise to help halt the firm’s precipitous decline?
