I WELCOME education minister Jacqui Smith’s recent announcements that councils will soon be legally bound to find a school place within 20 school days of a youngster being taken into care (TES, December 24).
However I trust that, in additon, Ms Smith is making sure that arrangements will be put into place to ensure that schools are legally required to enrol looked-
after children within that period of time.
