The ethos of a school is so important. It shone through recently at the infants school where I have been a governor for about 17 years.
I was making my customary weekly visit to “help” and chose to go into the reception class. When lunchtime came and I prepared to go, a little girl took my hand and said “I’ll show you the way out.” She had been in school all of three weeks!
