I READ in the article concerning the admission of girl boarders to Ampleforth (TES, June 30) that “there was no boarding provision for Catholic girls between Edinburgh and Ascot.”
This came as a great surprise to me and would also comeas a great surprise to the girl boarders at New Hall School, Chelmsford, the oldest Catholic girls’ school in England, founded in 1642.
