WHILE the assimilation of teachers’ pay has now upgraded the special educational needs point so that one SEN plus one management point equals two management points, what is to be done about teachers in special schools on three points?

They will have a protected salary but if they move to another school to another three-point post, they will lose more than pound;600.

Where two staff in a school have one SEN and two management points, one may be protected and earn pound;600-plus, more than a newly-appointed colleague.

Where is the fairness in this? Do the unions not care because so few fellow teachers are affected?
