WELSH education authorities are to get pound;11.3 million next year to help reduce infant class sizes in Wales to 30 or fewer. It will pay for 473 extra teachers and 64 classrooms, as well as furniture and minor works. It should mean that nearly 90 per cent of the 40,000 Welsh infants in classes of more than 30 should be in classes below that limit by 2000.
