THE Welsh Assembly is to allocate pound;1 billion for school buildings.

Jane Davidson, Welsh minister for education and lifelong learning, promised all Welsh schools would be in good physical shape by 2010. Each local authority will be awarded pound;9 million up to 2010 for large-scale building schemes. On Wednesday, Ms Davidson also announced a pound;3.5m grant to help small rural schools work together.
