PUPILS AT the three specialist dance and music schools in Scotland are to receive pound;4 million in direct Government support.

The announcement, part of a pound;14 million package to develop specialist education for the able and talented, will give pupils financial help with fees, accommodation and transport to attend the music schools at Douglas Academy in East Dunbartonshire and Broughton High in Edinburgh and the national dance school at Knightswood Secondary in Glasgow.

This will alleviate concern, especially in Glasgow, that the national centres were growing less national because pupils from other parts of Scotland could not afford to enrol and education authorities were refusing to provide financial support.
