Hackney Community College in East London has been given the go-ahead from the Further and Higher Education Funding Council for a Pounds 21 million building project in the next two years. This means the college will move into new or refurbished accommodation by 1997 and will dispose of around six sites.

The FEFC funding is likely to be supplemented by a city partnership scheme, the European Union and Hackney Council.
