Britain’s largest trade union, Unison, this week called for a Pounds 250 million injection into further education to give colleges a period of stability.
The union made its call in a submission to the education select committee, currently investigating FE finances. Keith Sonnet, its head of local government, said: “Our members have borne the brunt of cuts year-on-year. Pay increases have been withheld and more than half of all colleges have not awarded the nationally agreed pay rise for last year.”
