Donations totalling more than Pounds 4 million have poured into three trust funds following the tragic events of March 13.

The Dunblane Fund, set up by the new Stirling Council and intended as an umbrella fund, has received Pounds 2.2 million, with money still coming in. The money will be used to help those injured and bereaved by the massacre, to build a lasting memorial and to benefit the wider community.

The Stirling Observer Dunblane Help Fund has received almost Pounds 1. 3 million, which will be used to help those directly affected and the wider community. The Dunblane Primary School BoardPTA Fund has received almost Pounds 1 million, which will be used to benefit the children of Dunblane. An immediate project will be to provide the most up-to-date equipment for the school including language lab facilities, science equipment, computers, reading schemes, items for the nursery, art and other educational materials.

The remaining funds will be used for the longer-term benefit of the children of Dunblane.
