From Eagle Eye, the St Aloysius’ College report to alumnae, comes the news that the school’s kindergarten has had a Smart board installed to help the kids start work for their Highers right away at the age of three. It certainly puts experimentation with Standard grade in S2 and S3 somewhat in the shade.

Anyway, this is doubly smart. The independent school reveals that the equipment was partly funded by Glasgow City Council, giving a whole new meaning to the concept of public private partnership. The city’s taxpayers might be amazed to learn that they are paying in part for academic success at the old Jesuit school.
