Pre-school pledge heads for three-quarters of the way there

More than two-thirds of three-year-olds had a grant-funded place in pre-school education by last summer, and further progress towards the Executive’s target of universal provision by next year is likey by the summer when the figure is expected to rise to three-quarters. Statistics show a wide variation across the country - from 41 per cent in Highland to 94 per cent in Argyll and Bute.
