Prep schools this week criticised the Government’s testing and tables regime. Simon Carder, chairman of the Incorporated Assocation of Preparatory Schools, said: “In a league-table culture we run the risk of forgetting the needs of individual children in favour of statistics.” He was expected to tell the association’s York conference that care was needed not to abandon creativity, physical development, teamwork and social skills.
