A course in design and technology for key stage 1 and 2 teachers and classroom assistants has been established at St John’s College School, a Cambridge prep school. Developed by Jerwood Curriculum Award winner and former lecturer David Jinks, it is accredited by Homerton College, Cambridge as a component of an advanced diploma in educational and professional studies.

The first course, which began this month, involves 80 hours at St John’s and another 80 in participants’ own schools and includes: planning the D T curriculum for the school; communicating through drawing; developing making skills; and recording children’s work - evaluation and progression.
