All schools should offer A-level pupils university-style extended projects to better prepare them for higher education, Cambridge University’s head of admissions said this week. The projects, worth half an A-level, involve dissertations or similar long-term, research-style work and, according to Dr Geoff Parks, director of admissions at Cambridge, should be available beyond just the handful of schools currently offering them.
