Barack Obama marked the first anniversary of his election in a Wisconsin school talking about education reform. Although he also talked about his other challenges, such as Afghanistan and health reform, he took time to discuss his administration’s “Race to the Top” grants, billions of dollars designed to encourage states to adopt reforms such as measuring teacher performance by student achievement. He also talked about life in the White House, as a father supervising his daughters’ studies.
