Pretty few in primary pink

Few primary heads are a cross between Jennifer Aniston and Lady Penelope.

While some are blonde, some are glamorous, some even drive flash cars, heads in pink suits are rare indeed. It’s not a good backdrop for finger paint and sick.

Yet the ideal primary head detailed by Welsh children in a display at the Eisteddfod this week (see page 1) would have golden curls, a posh motor, smart suit, and be married to Brad Pitt. Men barely get a look-in.

What does it all mean? Does the drive to recruit more male teacher need to be stepped up (see right)? Has feminism made no inroads at all? Do schools need to renew their efforts to combat sexual stereotyping? Or is it simply the Thunderbirds factor?
