THE FOOD FILE (2000). Educational Press Free Tel: 020 7453 4684.
Based on the successful take-up of The Food File last year by primary schools, the resource has been updated and redesigned with the support of highly visible sponsors and their logos. The set of five files - dairy, sausages, fruit, cereals and tea - is devised to offer the teacher background food technology tips and worksheets for pupil use. Good use of sign posting is made to highlight curriculum links, the QCA schemes of work and teaching opportunities, as are the simple yt extremely valuable industrial cartoons of manufacturing principles.
It is refreshing to find a resource which neatly conveys important food technology concepts in a way which will be meaningful to the pupil and offer opportunities for more advanced work.
As a free resource, apart from the over-use of company logos on each page, it offers a good starting point for developing a fun, yet rigorous, food technology course for primary pupils.
