Survey the class to find out what forms of public transport they have travelled on. You will probably find many have had very limited experiences. Why is this? Present your findings using graphs, tables and charts.

Interview older relatives and friends about their memories of public transport. Collect photographs, old postcards and reminiscences to make a classroom display.

Plan a journey between two given points in which only public transport can be used. Research the journey on the internet giving dates, times and mode of transport.

Research and draw different types of trams to illustrate similarities and differences in design. Produce an ad to persuade the public of the benefits of this new form of travel.

Design a game using the theme of a tram journey. Include the major successes and benefits on positive cards and setbacks and dangers on penalty cards.
