The conference will give a wide pespective on future development and will offer guidance on how to cope with the post-Dearing primary school history curriculum. There will be five keynote speakers, all expert in their own fields.
SCAA professional officer for history Sue Bennett will give an overview of the philosophy behind the national curriculum review. Pat Harrison, publishing director at Folens Publishers, will assess the implications of the curriculum changes on key stage 1, while Alan Farmer, head of history at St Martin’s College, Lancaster, will look at the implications for key stage 2.
Ian Fell, series producer at Yorkishire Television will explore opportunities for using visual resources and Tim Lomas, general inspector for history, Lincolnshire, will talk about preparing for an Ofsted inspection.
