SOME primaries have spent up to four months cramming for this term’s curriculum tests, according to the National Primary Headteachers Association.
The NPHA says some schools are ditching the other eight national curriculum subjects to concentrate on maths, English and science.
Chairman Barry Dawson said: “The exams ad performance tables are destroying some of the best practice in primary education.”
In a speech in Brighton this week, Nicholas Tate, the outgoing chief executive of the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority, warned that schools risk damaging pupils’ broader education in their quest for better exam results.
