Most nine to 11-year-olds in Richmond local authority schools are now taught French. Their teachers, who have experience from rusty French O-level upwards, were given additional language training and classes in language teaching methodology. A resources pack, “C’est facile comme Bonjour”, has been produced containing colour flashcards on topics like pets and hobbies;

An audio cassette featuring interviews with French people including children from link schools in St Omer, northern France; worksheets; templates; and suggestions for games and role play.
