Primary pressure just too great

I WAS a primary teacher in my third year of teaching but have now resigned.

The workload and pressures were just too great. Most of us were too exhausted to complain effectively. I came home shattered and my evenings and weekends were consumed by marking and preparation.

The teaching of 30 children mighthave been workable once, but today it is simply not.

With the higher expectations continually thrust upon us, primary teachers should have certain expectations too - one being time in which to plan and set up lessons.
