PRIVATE companies should have a greater role in improving the standards of coasting schools, MPs were told this week.
Giving evidence to a select committee inquiry into the role of private companies in education, Neil McIntosh, chief executive of the Centre for British Teachers, Kevin McNeany, chief executive of Nord Anglia and Stanley Goodchild, managing consultant of the 3E’s company, said private companies should be given a wider role than just in failing schools. According to a Government source, it is open for schools and local authorities to call in the services of private companies.
