The first two independent schools were given approval to go grant-maintained this week. Schools minister Robin Squire announced that St Anselm’s College and Upton Hall Convent School, both in the Wirral, Merseyside, will receive state funding from September 1 providing “minor modifications” are made to admissions arrangements.
