Private school inspections are getting better, a report from the Office for Standards of Education is expected to say. About half the inspections and reports monitored were rated as good quality, with practically all the rest judged satisfactory.
However, there are still concerns about the composition of inspection teams, and the quality of oral feedback is also variable, the report says.
Tony Hubbard, of the Independent Schools Inspectorate, praised inspectors but said it was difficult to co-ordinate teams mainly consisting of working teachers. He added that the greatest difficulty was sending the appropriate inspectors to all-age schools. “Even OFSTED never has to do that.”
