Private sympathy for Harman

I, like Dr Swift (TES, March 14), was prompted to think about Harriet Harman’s decision to send her son into Kent for his secondary education as her son and mine were in the same school and, at the time, the local choice was worrying.

Not being a Labour politician, I could use the Assisted Places Scheme. I would not have criticised Ms Harman for taking the private route as she would not have taken a place of a child whose parents may have scrimped to move to Kent to be near a good school.
