SURELY Christine Whatford misses the point on private sector management of local education authorities (TES, February 4) when she tells the Society of Education Officers conference: “That market will only get off the ground if people like you and me cross the line and goand work for the private sector”.

Presumably if people like “them and her” were doing their jobs effectively, there would be no need to privatise the service in the first place.
