THE UNION voiced its opposition to growing privatisation in local authorities and schools. Bradford delegates had drawn up the motion only to discover days before the conference that privatisation was planned for their own authority.

“This goverment wants to impose a British Rail-style solution on education,” West Yorkshire executive member Ian Murch said.

Conference voted in favour of taking local industrial action including strikes where jobs or conditions were threatened.
