Prize writing opportunity

Schools' English and drama departments are invited to enter monologues, short stories and letters by May 31 for the under-20 section of the One Voice international competition.

The fee is Pounds 5 per story and monologue and Pounds 3 per letter, but there is a substantial reduction for block entries from schools. Over Pounds 4,000 is offered in prizes plus Canon word-processors, leather Filofaxes and gold pens. Finalists' entries will be read aloud at the One Voice weekend, October 7-8, before the judging panel, which includes actress, Miriam Margolyes, and playwright Brian Clark (Whose Life Is It Anyway). Brian Clark is also running a masterclass.

The best entries will appear in the One Voice book, which is published annually. Details: One Voice, co Theatre Cwmtawe, Parc Ynysderw, Pontardawe, West Glamorgan, South Wales SA8 4EG. Tel: 0792 830111.
