A primary teacher has been found guilty of unacceptable professional conduct.

John Griffiths, who taught at Katesgrove primary in Reading, has been given a conditional registration order by England’s General Teaching Council.

He must provide evidence from a consultant psychiatrist that he is fit to teach before returning to the classroom and show that he has completed courses in race equality, sexual harassment and dignity at work.

The case was originally heard in private in June and September 2005.

The conditional registration order was issued in Birmingham last week. The disciplinary hearing said he would be excluded from holding a headship for two years when he returns to work.

Mr Griffiths must also provide reports from any school that employs him demonstrating satisfactory conduct at the end of each term for two years.
