Correction: An article on history teaching in the Primary Update (April 28) described Joan Blyth, rather than her husband, Professor Alan Blyth, as quondam professor of education at Liverpool University and former director of a Schools Council project. Joan Blyth is a former teacher-trainer and author of History 5-11, published in Hodder and Stoughton’s Primary Bookshelf series. Professor Blyth and Jeremy Krause are co-authors of another new book in this series, Primary geography: a developmental approach.
