A COMPANY working with once-failing education authorities has posted a 26 per cent rise in pre-tax profits, after winning pound;1.2 billion in new public-sector contracts last year. Middlesex-based Serco made pound;57 million last year on a turnover of pound;1.3bn. It runs virtually all of Bradford’s education services, as part of a pound;360m contract agreed in 2001 after a critical Office for Standards in Education report.
