A high-tech board game used by bankers to hone their skills is helping to turn pupils into would-be entrepreneurs at an Essex technology college.
Stephen Twigg, education junior minister, visited Greensward college, Hockley on Wednesday and joined students as they played the Profitability game, which puts students at the helm of imaginary companies.
Debbie Godwin, advanced skills teacher for careers, education and guidance, said: “It has not been used in schools before, but we jumped at the chance.
The game has helped students understand the finance part of business studies, which can be a bit dry. The downside is that the equipment is more than Pounds 1,000 if you get the full kit. We cannot really mock one up because when you are working with students you need to have something that looks perfect.”
