‘Progress files’ hit Year 9 hitch

A PILOT scheme which helps pupils record their achievements and plan for the future has benefited only a few of the schools taking part, according to the Office for Standards in Education. The inspection agency said heads are concerned about the lack of time for staff development on how to use “progress files” with pupils from Year 9 onwards. However, special schools and pupil-referral units had found them more helpful.
