Video conferencing is being used to help children with speech and language difficulties. I CAN, the charity that helps children with special needs has been awarded a Pounds 108,000 grant from the Department of Trade and Industry to fund a new project, Teach Speech.

Aided by BT’s Centre for Human Communications which is developing a video-conferencing package, the project aims to overcome the problem of too few therapists trying to support too many children. Terminals will be installed in one specialist nursery and four mainstream nurseries this year. Details: I CAN 0171 374 4422.
